George Hubert; Pte on star. He served in France from 31-8-15 with the 8th battalion (having got married on 29th May). According to SDGW and CWGC he was killed in action on 25-9-15 (1st day Battle of Loos); however, according to the war diary, the 8th battalion wasn't engaged until the 26th. The diary notes rather tersely for the 26th, “Attack HULLUCH, loose [sic] ¾ of Battalion”. He was born and resided in Bletchingley, Surrey, and enlisted Redhill, Surrey. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
