Florence; British Red Cross Society & Order of St John of Jerusalem. A Nursing Sister, she served in France from 25-10-14 to 10-7-15 with Calais Unit No 1 (twenty-eight 1914 stars issued to this unit); she undertook a further period of service in France from 17-4-16 to 13-12-18. She was Mentioned in Despatches in the London Gazette 10th July 1919 (attached to 8th BRCS Hospital) ostensibly for long service -- see comment on her BRCS cards. In the 1911 census she is shown as a Nurse at the Wandsworth Union Infirmary (attached to a workhouse), aged 22. She may have emigrated to Canada after the war (see BRCS cards).
