Thomas; apart from various merchant and RN ships, he served on HMS Goosander in 1919; this ship was built as a fishing vessel and requisitioned as a minesweeper during World War 1; Thomas Major was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for service in mine clearance during the period 1-1-19 to 30-6-19; in 1939 he was living in the Sailors’ Home, Stepney and was Assistant Night Watchman there.
