Robert; he served in France from 27-9-14 with H Battery, Ammunition Column -- the battery was mobilised as a replacement for L Battery which had been almost destroyed in the gallant action at Nery. He was later advanced to Serjeant. He was awarded the Military Medal in the London Gazette of 12-6-18 and the Meritorious Service Medal in the London Gazette of 17-6-18.
H Battery was assigned to VII Brigade RHA in 1st Cavalry Division (2nd Cavalry Brigade) and remained with the division for the duration of the war.
