Gilbert Henry. He was born in 1894. During the War, he transferred to the Labour Corps, number: 487206. After the War, he made his mark in the world of books as a book-seller. In 1927 he managed the Rare Books Department of Foyles. He also wrote and published a number of books including “The Autobiography of a Book”. He later became manager of the Rare Book Department of Hatchards book shop in Picadilly which had customers amongst royalty and celebrities of the day. He served in the Home Guard, and after World War Two, set up as a private bookseller eventually settling in Rye. He died in 1973.
